Lee Orwig
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Orwig worked for the Ramsey County judiciary and served as a mediator in several Hennepin County Courts. Mr. Orwig practices exclusively in the area of criminal defense. He has argued criminal issues before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and in 2009 successfully co-chaired the defense of his client by having him acquitted before a Hennepin County jury of DWI/.08.
Mr. Orwig has experience with misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony cases. His practice areas include DWI crimes, forgery crimes, juvenile crimes, criminal sexual conduct, drug crimes, assault crimes and criminal expungements. Mr. Orwig practices across the state of Minnesota with many of his cases occurring in Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, Goodhue, Sherburne, and Washington counties.
Mr. Orwig is recognized as being on the forefront of the "source code" litigation issue currently being litigated across the State of Minnesota. He maintains and distributes a database of judicial source code decisions that attorneys and judges use throughout the state. Mr. Orwig has been instrumental in the current federal litigation pending between the State of Minnesota and the manufacturer of Minnesota’s breath-testing machine called the Intoxilyzer 5000. Mr. Orwig is the lead author of the amicus curiae source code brief submitted to Minnesota Federal District Court on behalf of the Minnesota Society of Criminal Justice.
